Sangat ("we", "our", "the app") is a Sikh Katha listening and search application. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address - used for authentication and account recovery
• Display name - shown in your profile (optional)

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google. We do not access your Google contacts, calendar, or other data.

Usage Data

• Search history - your recent search queries (stored to show recent searches for convenience)
• Listening history - which kathas you have listened to and your progress
• Saved clips - audio clips you bookmark for later

Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics (by Google) to collect anonymous usage statistics such as app opens, screen views, and crash reports. This data is aggregated and cannot identify individual users.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the app's functionality
• To save your listening progress and preferences
• To show your recent search history for convenience
• To improve the app based on anonymous usage patterns

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers with encrypted connections (HTTPS). Account authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google). Audio content is stored on Cloudflare R2 with encrypted transit.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your search history at any time from within the app. You can delete your entire account and all associated data directly from the Settings screen in the app. Account deletion is immediate and removes all your personal data, including saved clips, listening history, and search history.

5. Third-Party Services

• Firebase Authentication (Google) - for user sign-in
• Firebase Analytics (Google) - for anonymous usage statistics
• Cloudflare R2 - for audio file storage and delivery
• Meilisearch - for full-text search across katha content
• Hive - for local on-device storage of preferences and cached data

Each service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

6. Children's Privacy

The app contains religious and educational content suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
